Biznet, a prominent cable internet service provider, has recently announced the implementation of a new policy known as Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for its customers. Previously, Biznet's services offered unlimited internet usage without FUP restrictions on a monthly basis. However, this new policy was communicated to customers through bulletins on the official Biznet website and via email. One of the teams at KompasTekno also received notification of this change.
FUP itself is not a new concept among internet service providers, but it marks a new step for Biznet. This policy is typically employed by internet service providers to regulate internet usage fairly. With FUP in place, Biznet sets limits in the form of data quotas. When users exceed the fair usage limits, their internet speed will be reduced.
Adi Kusma, President Director of Biznet, stated that the reason behind implementing the FUP policy is to address the misuse of the company's internet services. Biznet found that their services were being misused through illegal resale. "Therefore, to prevent such occurrences, the implementation of the Internet Quota FUP is deemed necessary," explained Adi.
According to Rian Surachman, Vice President Marketing at Biznet, the enforcement of FUP began at the beginning of 2024. Rian explained that this policy was enacted in response to the considerable number of inconsistencies or misuse of services by certain individuals in society. He also stated that the implementation of internet quota regulations is accompanied by an enhancement of services provided by Biznet, such as offering larger bandwidth capacities at the same price.
The internet quotas provided by Biznet have been adjusted to meet the needs of each customer according to the package they select. For instance, Biznet Home service offers quotas of up to 10,000 GB, while Biznet Metronet offers up to 100,000 GB. Additionally, Biznet has provided detailed information on internet packages, including FUP limits and offered speeds, to its customers.
With the implementation of this FUP policy, Biznet customers are expected to continue enjoying stable and high-quality internet services while preventing the misuse of services that could harm all parties involved.
